20/April/2023 - The cruellest month?

Updated: Apr 22, 2023

Or so they say, or rather, so T.S. Eliot wrote in The Waste Land.

April is the cruellest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rain. Winter kept us warm, covering Earth in forgetful snow.

The lilacs are doing a fine job of emerging from the dead land but are still on the cusp of blooming. However, we already have cherry blossom, fleeting as that is in the bluster and breeze.
At the turn of the season, I can sometimes feel creatively turbo-charged, so April and October seem to be watershed moments in my year. There's been a flurry of activity around writing and recording. The music projects I have firmly on my radar are the album I'm making with Tim Bricheno, some co-writing and recording I'm doing with Lilac Haze, and sifting through the many songs that The Dadaists have in their vaults. Let blossom commence!
